Come and run with Youlgrave Harriers!

Youlgrave Harriers is a running group based in Youlgrave. It was formed in March 2021 whilst waiting for lockdown to finish and with the aim of providing a place for like-minded people to meet up for a run about and have a post-run chat in the pub.

We welcome people of all abilities, whether you’re just starting out, experienced, slow or fast. We strive to be a place where you can come for a social or with the intent of improving and being part of a team, hopefully both. If you’re local to Youlgrave sign up and join us (the ‘fee’ is simply a goodwill gesture donation direct to a charity). If you’re visiting the area come along as a guest and we’ll try to not get lost with visitors.

Runners stood on a stone bridge over a river. We are currently unattached so operate under the understanding that everybody that runs with us does so at their own risk, as if you were out running with your friends. There are 2 regular club runs. The weekly run is Thursday in Youlgrave and the weekend runs are every few weeks and move around to explore the less-visited bits of the Peaks and are tagged as our Guided Trail Runs.

Club Runs

Thursdays, 18:45 for 19:00. Mostly session-based running (speed work on the grass, hill work around the village, etc). Check the club runs page to see what the session is each week. We meet on Alport Lane Playing Field, Youlgrave (the cricket and football pitches, Alport end of the village, car park is next to the field). We head to The George for post-run recovery and you can simply show up on the night. These are suitable for all abilities, you can work as hard or take it easy as you like.  We’ll never be much more than 200-300m apart at any time.

Saturday or Sunday usually at 10:00 every 2-3 weeks. We use these to go exploring around the Peak District. Full details including maps and route description can be found on our website’s event EVENTS  page. You’ll also find past routes on our website if you’re looking for ideas on where to go.
